Local Craft Breweries Help Raleigh/Durham Local Business Boom

With the help of the North Carolina Division of Tourism, April is now officially known as NC Beer Month.  And why not?  In my 7-ish years of living here I’ver personally witnessed the explosion of growth in the selection of local craft beers throughout our state, particularly here in the greater Raleigh/Durham region.  It’s responsible for about 5 lbs around my middle..thanks….

Don't Stop Showing The Love Just Yet

Our inaugural Show Some Love contest is off to a great start. We are now well over 100 small local businesses nominated. North Carolinian's sure do love their food! 49% of our contest nominations have been for restaurants, food trucks & coffees shops you love!  But we'd love to see the hard working businesses of the Triangle and other parts of our state in health and wellness, retail, professional, home related, personal care and agribusiness (family farms, wineries, tree farms, etc) share in the love too.

  • Have a photographer who took perfect photos of your wedding?
  • How about a landscaper who created your dream yard?
  • Perhaps there's a favorite local spa whose masseuse works magic?
  • Maybe there's a brewery in town who brews some of your favorite local beers?

Cary's Whole Family Chiropractic sure has been getting a lot of love...they are one of the most nominated North Carolina small businesses in our "Show Some Love" Contest".   Here's their story:

Durham Loves Local Start-up Beanpeace Roastery

Beanpeace RoasteryThe little roaster and the student art project that started this adventure

Beanpeace Roastery is currently leading the pack by having the most nominations in our Finder411 “Show Some Love” North Carolina small business contest. This will be the first in a series of blog posts  spotlighting North Carolina businesses feeling the love from people who realize supporting locally owned and operated businesses is the way to go.

Elizabeth Dorr, owner of Beanpeace Roastery, grew up in a family that loved & worked in the food and beverage industry, so it’s no surprise that even though her formal education was engineering, she started her small business roasting coffee beans.

Dorr returned to the southeast from Portland, Oregon in 2011, moving to Durham because she sensed the smaller tar heel-based town was on it’s way to “eatery” stardom. Early last year, she began practicing the art of coffee bean roasting, experimenting with different beans and roast profiles. By March, she’d sold her first bag and things took off from there.

Finder411 sets goal of 300 small business contest nominations

Nominations are heating up for Finder411’s “Show Some Love” contest, with many Triangle area businesses receiving multiple nominations.

Triangle Foodie Nation on Nominating Frenzy

We knew North Carolinian's were serious about their food, but have been shocked at the early results in our "Show Some Love" Contest. Several of our contest nominations received to date have been around Food. And with more people opting to start up Food Trucks, Restaurants, and Family Farms here in North Carolina - we only anticipate this list to grow.
